CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Following a 6-0 Ivy team record and its 44
th Ivy League Championship, No. 1 Harvard men's squash earned a slew of honors in the 2023 All-Ivy Awards.
Marwan Tarek was named Men's Squash Player of the Year as well as being a unanimous First Team All-Ivy selection. Fellow co-captain,
George Crowne joined Tarek in receiving a unanimous First Team All-Ivy selection. Rounding out the honors, Coach
Mike Way was named the Men's Squash Coach of the Year and
Ido Burstein was named to the Academic All-Ivy team.
Following a dominating Ivy season, senior co-captain
Marwan Tarek was named the Men's Squash Player of the Year and unanimous First Team All-Ivy. Tarek is a perfect 12-0 this season including 6-0 against Ivy opponents, all at the No. 1 position for the Crimson, to earn his fourth First Team All-Ivy nod. Tarek is the 20
th Harvard player to win Player of the Year and first since
Victor Crouin in 2020.
Fellow senior co-captain
George Crowne received a unanimous First Team All-Ivy selection, the second first-team selection of his career. Crowne earned the honor following a 5-1 Ivy League season, primarily at the No. 2 position for the Crimson. Crowne dominated Ivy League play this season as he swept his opponents, 3-0, in all five of his conference wins. Overall, Crowne stands at a team-best 13-1 so far this season.
Coach
Mike Way was named the Men's Squash Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his career and the first time since 2020. With Way at the helm this season, the Crimson reclaimed the Ivy League title by going 6-0 in conference and stands with a perfect record of 14-0.
