Men’s Volleyball Drops EIVA Opener at Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Harvard men's volleyball team opened EIVA action on Friday night at Charleston and fell short, 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-19). The loss dropped the Crimson to 4-5 on the season (0-1 EIVA), while the Golden Eagles moved to 12-0 (1-0 EIVA).

How It Happened

  • The match started well for the visitors as Harvard enjoyed a 6-3 lead in the first set. The Crimson later found itself ahead, 15-14, but the hosts rattled off five consecutive points and never looked back. Charleston finished the first frame on an 11-2 run to close out the 25-17 decision.
  • In the second, Harvard doubled up the Golden Eagles, 12-6, before UC answered with four unanswered points. The Crimson kept Charleston at arm's length with two points of its own, but the Golden Eagles hung around to make things interesting. Harvard led, 21-20, but 3-0 spurt put the home side in front and UC eventually completed the comeback, 25-23.
