Chris Snopek each hit a home run, but Harvard University baseball fell at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 24-3, in the series opener on Thursday night at Chapman Field.
Beginning its final series before the start of Ivy League play, the Crimson (1-12) held a 2-0 lead before the host Islanders (9-9) took an edge in the second inning and totaled 21 runs over the fourth through sixth innings.
Harvard Highlights
- Senior Logan Bravo went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs, and a run scored. He notched his first homer of the year.
- Junior Chris Snopek tallied his third home run of the season with a solo shot in the sixth.
- Junior Peter Messervy posted a hit, run, and walk.
- In the seventh and final inning, first-year Gio Colasante, senior Grant Schwartz, and first-year Max Lane each hit a pinch-hit single.
How It Happened
- Harvard took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning as Bravo lifted a two-run home run to right center field scoring Messervy and himself.
- Texas A&M-CC cut the margin to 2-1 in the bottom of the first and pulled ahead 3-2 with a pair of runs in the last of the second.
- In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Islanders plated seven runs, moving ahead 10-2.
- The Islanders added five runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 15-2 edge.
- In the top of the sixth, Snopek drove a solo homer over the wall in right field to make the score 15-3.
- Texas A&M-CC totaled nine runs in the bottom of the sixth, pushing its margin to 24-3.
