Men’s Tennis Wins Opening Match of Ed Collins Spring Classic; Set to Face VCU Tomorrow

SAN DIEGO, CA – No. 7 Harvard Men's Tennis took on San Diego State for the second time in the last four days to open play at the Ed Collins Spring Classic.  In a repeat of their last matchup, the Crimson swept the Aztec, 4-0 to move on to the semifinals of the tournament.

The Crimson began the day by securing the doubles point off of wins at the No. 1 and 3 positions.  David Lins and Alan Yim grabbed the first win of the day for Harvard with relative ease, 6-2.  Shortly after, Daniel Milavsky and Harris Walker stayed strong in a tight battle against the No. 80 nationally ranked doubles duo to pull out a 7-5 victory and clinch the doubles point.

Moving into singles, Walker picked up his eighth win of the spring, defeating Johannes Seeman (SDSU) in straight sets to put the Crimson up 2-0.

Competing for the first time during the Crimson California trip, Henry von der Schulenburg put the Crimson a win away from clinching by winning his match at the No. 2 position.  After dropping the first set, the junior stormed back, dominating 6-3, 6-1 in the next two sets to claim the win.

Playing at the No. 6 position for the Crimson, Yim grabbed the final and clinching win for the Crimson with a straight set victory over Andre Saleh (SDSU).  Yim pulled out a gritty tiebreaker win in the first set, followed by a 6-4 second set to down his opponent and solidify the Harvard win.

Harvard Highlights
