Cambridge, Mass. - In the third and final game of Harvard's first weekend at home, the Crimson (11-9-1, 4-2 Ivy) fell short after almost surmounting a comeback in the final inning against the Cornell Big Red (8-8, 2-1 Ivy), with a final score of 5-4.
How it Happened
The Crimson were trailing 5-0 in the sixth inning when they first put runs on the board. Harvard got an RBI single from senior Trina Hoang, scoring Allison Heffley from third base.
The Crimson kept the Big Red off the board before narrowing the gap further in the seventh. Harvard's offense had a good inning, putting three runs on the scoreboard, which tightened the Big Red lead to 5-4. The Crimson were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
Game Highlights
• Sophomore Katie Arrambide (3-2) got the ball to start for Harvard and took the loss. First-year Riley Flynn then threw four innings, giving up one run on one hit, with two walks and three strikeouts.
• Heffley led the way offensively for the Crimson, going 3-for-4 in the ballgame with a double and an RBI. Hoang furnished a standout effort as well, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
• The Crimson out-hit the Big Red at a 9-5 clip.
• Harvard pitchers faced 31 Cornell hitters in the game, allowing eight ground balls and seven fly balls while striking out six.

Harvard will host a doubleheader against Maine on Tuesday, March 28 with the first game starting at 2 p.m. EST and the second estimated to start at 4:30 p.m. EST. The Crimson will meet the Black Bears for the 19th and 20th time in series history, one in which Harvard leads 10-8. Harvard has won the last six games, handing Maine a loss in every matchup since 1994. Both games will stream on ESPN+.
