PHILADELPHIA, PA – In the final day of the 2023 CSA Individual Championships,
George Crowne and
Tate Harms fell in the finals of the Pool Trophy and the Molloy Cup North Division, respectively.
Coming in as the 11-seed,
George Crowne made a dominant run to the finals of the Pool Trophy. Throughout his weekend, the senior swept the six-seed Nathan Tze Bing Kueh (Penn) to open the weekend and then defeated three-seed Matias Knudsen (Drexel) 3-1, later that day.
To punch his ticket to the finals, Crowne defeated seven-seed Veer Chotrani (Cornell) in come from behind fashion. After falling in the first two games yesterday, Crowne battled back to win 3-2 and earn his spot as a Pool Trophy finalist.
Tate Harms competed in the Molloy Cup North Division as the two-seed. On the first day of the weekend, the sophomore downed Jordan Sprecher (Franklin & Marshall), 3-1, and Dana Santry (Penn) in a come from behind 3-2 win.
To advance to the finals, Harms defeated Elliott Hunt (Western) 11-7, 7-11, 11-6, 11-9. Facing the top seed, Joachim Chuah (Trinity), in the championships match, Harms battled through five games before falling. Sitting down 2-1, Harms was able to tie the match up through four games. In the final game Chuah pulled ahead quickly and despite a hard-fought battle from Harms, was able to close the match and claim the title.
