BRIGHTON, Mass. – Junior
Ben Rounds hit a two-run double as part of a four-run fifth that gave the Crimson the lead, but Harvard University baseball fell to No. 11 Boston College, 5-4, in the championship game of The Baseball Beanpot on Tuesday night at Eddie Pellagrini Diamond at the Harrington Athletics Village.

The Crimson (11-17) came back from a 3-0 deficit to take a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning and remained tied with the nationally ranked Eagles (22-9) heading into the ninth inning before the hosts walked off with the win in the bottom of the ninth.

Matt Giberti posted a pair of hits, and Crimson relievers allowed just two runs over 5.0 innings. Harvard – which advanced to the Beanpot title game for the 14
th time in team history – moved to 9-3 over its last 12 games with the result.Â

How It Happened
- Boston College took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first with Jacobsen inducing a fly out to get out of a bases-loaded situation.
- In the bottom of the third, the Eagles moved ahead 3-0 with back-to-back solo home runs.
- Harvard took a 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth behind a four-run inning. After Giberti and Baldwin each hit singles to lead off the inning, Rounds drove a two-run double off the wall in left field to bring the Crimson within 3-2. Berger then absorbed a hit by pitch with the bases loaded to knot the score at 3-3 before Kang tallied an RBI on a walk, pushing the visitors in front, 4-3.
- The Eagles tied the score at 4-4 with a run in the bottom of the sixth.
- Harvard threatened in the top of the ninth, loading the bases with two outs before the hosts escaped the jam.
- BC walked off with the win behind a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth.
