Hammer Throws Dominate at Penn Relays, Break Records

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Crimson started the Penn Relays meet strong, as three athletes took first place in their respective sections of the hammer throw and Stephanie Ratcliffe and Kenneth Ikeji once again set new school records.

Harvard Highlights

  • Ratcliffe's new record and personal best puts a bit more distance between her and the rest of the nation, as she still holds strong in the second place spot. Her 70.59m (231' 7") throw won the championship section of the Penn Relays meet by nearly four meters (over 12 feet). Her new record also stands as a new Ivy League Record and stadium record, making her the record holder in both the weight throw and hammer throw for the conference.
  • Ikeji's throw of 74.12m (243' 2") won the gold medal at Penn Relays and improved his previous record by almost one meter (3 feet). His new best now ranks second in the nation, just .75 inches off first in the nation. This throw set a new stadium record.
  • Cammy Garabian took first place in the college section of the hammer throw at Penn Relays, as the only thrower in the section to clear 60 meters. Her 61.47m (201' 8") throw brought home a gold from Philadelphia. Her throw set a meet record for the college section of the women's hammer throw.
  • Chloe Fair moved up to fifth in the Harvard record books in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.79 that took 12th in Philadelphia.
