CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Men's Swimming and Diving rising senior
Marcus Holmquist has been named to the Swedish roster that is scheduled to compete at the FISU World University Games. The summer event is slated to be held July 28-Aug 8, in Chengdu, China.
A native of Bankeryd, Sweden, Holmquist is coming off an impressive junior campaign, one in which he helped Harvard capture its sixth consecutive Ivy League title. He was a part of three Ivy-winning relay teams (200 free, 400 free, 400 medley) -- swimming the anchor leg in each -- and was a second-team all-conference selection in three events (50 free, 100 free, 800 free relay).
In addition to being one of the top performers in the Ivy League, Holmquist was excellent in the classroom. The junior was named to the inaugural College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team and later named to the CSC Academic All-America Third Team, along with
Jared Simpson. With the recognition, the duo became the seventh and eighth Crimson athletes in program history to earn Academic All-America status.
