CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Incoming women's tennis first-year, Stephanie Yakoff, was named the 2022-23 USA TODAY HSSA Girls Tennis Player of the Year earlier this week after completing arguably one of the most dominant high school careers in recent memory. After initially making the 50-player semifinalist pool, the New Jersey native was selected as one fo 25 finalists before winning the award during an online ceremony earlier this week.
Ranked as the 21st best player in the Class of 2023 rankings by TRN, Yakoff will make her way to Cambridge to begin her college career after a highly-decorated career in high school. In her four years at Fort Lee High School, Yakoff went undefeated, posting a 63-0 record en route two two All-America selections, three New Jersey State Championships and four League MVP awards.
Yakoff leads a highly-touted recruiting class that was announced by
Traci Green, The Sheila Kelly Palandjian Head Coach for Harvard Women's Tennis, earlier this month. The incoming Harvard Class of 2027 will soon arrive in Cambridge and hope to help make an immediate impact on the team. The Crimson will begin its pursuit of an Ivy League Title later this Fall.
