CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's volleyball team (5-1) is finishing out nonconference play with three matches at home or close-to-home this week, first hosting Merrimack, then heading to Boston College and finally returning home to host Providence as their final nonconference opponent. Home matches will be streamed on ESPN+ while the away match at Boston College will air on ACCNX.
The first game of the week will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14 against Merrimack. Friday's contest at Boston College will also begin at 7 p.m. Continuing the trend for the week, the final match against Providence will take place at 7 p.m. in the MAC in front of what the Crimson hope will be a large home crowd. Live stats will be available in addition to a stream of each game.
What to Know
• Harvard has started the 2023 season 5-1 after going 3-0 at the Harvard Invite for opening weekend and 2-0 at the CSU Invite with two 3-0 sweeps last weekend. The only loss comes from a close 3-2 battle in Akron.
• Harvard has had two players recognized as Ivy League Player and Rookie of the week this season, as
Ashley Wang earned Player of the Week honors for the first week of competition and
Ryleigh Patterson earned Rookie of the Week honors after an outstanding weekend in Ohio, in which she hit .778 in a match against Cleveland State.
• The 2023 Harvard Volleyball team is ranked fifth in the Ivy League preseason poll.

• Head Coach
Jennifer Weiss has entered her 30th season at the helm of the Crimson program. She has added two assistant new coaches:
Christina Cornelius '18 and
Henry Yip. This the first time a former Harvard women's volleyball player has returned as a coach for the program in Cornelius.
• Harvard has won the one game in series history against Merrimack by a score of 3-1 in 2021.
• The Crimson and Boston College have an extensive history, as Harvard trails 20-26 in the 46-game all-time series. Harvard will hope to get its first win since 2018 on Friday, as Boston College won the two most recent matchups in 2019 and 2022.
• Harvard trails Providence 2-9 in the all-time series, with the two wins coming in the two most recent matches in 2000 and 2012. Harvard hopes to extend that streak to three on Saturday.
