CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard sailing team had a successful day on the water at three different regattas: the NEISA Singlehanded Championships, the Hatch Brown Trophy and the Regis Trophy. The Crimson team finished top-three in the two trophies and were represented well by
Robby Meek at the NEISA Singlehanded Championship, where he took second individually.
NEISA Singlehanded Championship
Despite what was projected to be windy conditions from Hurricane Lee, the NEISA Singlehanded Championship began on Saturday.
Robby Meek had an excellent first showing for the Crimson, finishing second at the regatta with 75 points. In 11 races, he finished first in one, third in two and fourth in three. Zoe Ziskind started her Crimson career in the women's singlehanded championship where she won race seven at the regatta.
Regis Trophy
Harvard finished third of 15 teams with 85 points, including 65 from division A and 20 from division B. The combo of
Cordelia Burn and
Kate Downey won the B division at the regatta as well. Harvard was just eight points off Brown's second-place finish with 77 points and 23 off Dartmouth's winning 63 points. The Crimson improved throughout the day, starting with finishes ranging from first to 15th in the first half of racing and improving to all top-five finishes for the last seven of 18 total races.
Hatch Brown Trophy
Harvard finished second with 113 points, sitting just five away from the title that Yale took with 108 points.
Lachlain McGranahan and
Marbella Marlo won the A division at the reagatta. The Crimson had an excellent start to the regatta and stayed consistent throughout, winning four of the 14 races. Harvard had the lead until the last race, when the team dropped to second after a 17th place finish.
