Wang Named Ivy League Player of the Week After Outstanding Opening Weekend

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Ashley Wang, a hitter and setter from Bolton, Mass., was named the first Ivy League Women's Volleyball Player of the Week after an outstanding weekend of play at the Harvard Invitational. Wang made Harvard history with two triple-doubles in one day and currently sits atop the NCAA leader board in aces in one game after opening weekend. 

In the Crimson's 3-0 shutout over Stonehill on Friday, Sept. 1 that started the 2023 season, Wang put up numbers across the board with three aces, seven kills, 17 assists, 1.5 total blocks and one dig. She led the team in aces and assists. 

On Saturday, Sept. 2, she made Harvard history by posting two triple-doubles in one day, first against UNH and then against Holy Cross. Against UNH, Wang was an essential part of the Crimson's victory, posting a triple-double with 12 kills, 25 assists and 18 digs. She made three blocks and served three aces as well, leading the team in assists and digs. In the four-set match against Holy Cross, she was one ace shy of a quad-double as she scored a career-high and NCAA-leading nine aces. Her second triple-double of the day consisted 10 kills, 16 assists and 12 digs.

Wang and her Crimson teammates will be on the road for the first time this season as they head to the Cleveland State Invitational from Friday, Sept. 8 to Saturday, Sept. 9. Harvard will play Akron, Cleveland State and Bucknell while spending time In the Buckeye State.
