CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's volleyball team is set to travel to Akron and Cleveland, Ohio for their first round of road matches at the Cleveland State Tournament from Sept. 8-9. Harvard will play Akron, Cleveland State and Bucknell while spending time in the Buckeye State.
The first game of the weekend will take place on Friday, Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. at Akron. The Crimson will then head north to face off against CSU Invite host Cleveland State on Friday night at 6 p.m. Harvard will play a neutral site contest in Cleveland against Bucknell to close out the weekend on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 11 a.m. The game against CSU will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will be available for all games.
What to Know
• Harvard started the 2023 season 3-0 at the Harvard Invite last weekend, with wins over Stonehill (3-0), UNH (3-2) and Holy Cross (3-1). This is the first time since the 2001 season that the Crimson have started the season 3-0.
• Senior
Ashley Wang had an outstanding weekend with the Crimson, making Harvard history as the first to ever post two triple-doubles in one day in games against Holy Cross and UNH. Against the Crusaders, Wang scored a career-high nine aces that currently leads the NCAA in aces in one game. She was rewarded with Ivy League Player of the Week Honors for her efforts.

• Head Coach
Jennifer Weiss has entered her 30th season at the helm of the Crimson program. She has added two assistant new coaches:
Christina Cornelius '18 and
Henry Yip. This the first time a former Harvard women's volleyball player has returned as a coach for the program in Cornelius. .
• This will be the first ever matchup between Harvard and Akron on the volleyball court, with both teams looking to start 1-0 in the series.
• Harvard trails 0-1 in the series against Cleveland State and will look to even the slate this weekend. The Vikings won the only other match 3-2 in 2018.
• The Crimson look to break a 1-1 tied series with Bucknell, with two matchups occurring in 1993 and 1997. Harvard won the more recent match by a score of 3-1.

The Crimson will return home to host Merrimack on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. before heading to Boston College on Sept. 15 for the second of three matches next week. They will close out their mid-September weekend with a home match against Providence on Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. All home matches will air on ESPN+.
