Women’s Ice Hockey Drops Contest at No. 4 Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Harvard women's hockey jumped out to an early lead at Colgate but could not hold off the Raiders in an eventual 10-1 defeat. The Crimson (4-16-2, 2-12-2 ECACH) was tripped up by the Raiders who handed Harvard its first loss in three games.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Crimson started strong, getting a quick goal from Brooke Manning just 1:47 into the action to grab hold of a 1-0 lead. Manning's first career goal came off a sharp wrist shot from the left circle and was assisted by her linemates Eva Door and Kayley Crawford.
  • Colgate countered with a strong attack, putting the pressure on starting goaltender Emily Davidson and Harvard's defense. The Crimson responded well in the period as Davidson would go on to make 27 saves while allowing just one goal.
  • The score would remain 1-1 after both teams were held off the scoreboard for the remainder of the period.
  • The Raiders came out flying in the second period, putting four quick goals on the board to take a 5-1 lead in the opening five minutes.
  • The Crimson defense stepped up to bring a halt to the Colgate rush, blocking four shots in the next ten minutes.
  • Colgate added one more tally to its total to take a 6-1 lead into the second intermission.
  • The Raiders would go on to score four more goals in the final frame to walk away with a 10-1 victory.
