Women's Fencing Defeats NYU in Home Finale

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In the final home match of the season, Harvard fencing earned a 23-4 victory against New York University. The Crimson finish its weekend at the Malkin Athletic Center with two wins, today's success against NYU and a 16-11 win against Duke last Friday. The Crimson lost just one bout, as three of the four losses were forfeited due to injury.
 
Harvard women's fencing is 14-3 this year, as the Crimson is on a four-match winning streak. The 23-4 win is Harvard's largest margin of victory this year.
 
Among all three weapons, women's foil led the way in wins, going a perfect 9-0 in the match against NYU. Across both matches this weekend, women's foil posted a 16-2 record against the Blue Devils and the Violets. Junior Lauren Scruggs leads all Harvard fencers this year in wins with a 45-3 collegiate record. Teammate and first-year Jessica Zi Jia Guo is 39-1 to begin her career in Cambridge. The highest touch-differential of the day belonged to senior captain Annora Lee with a stellar mark of +13.
 
Against NYU, women's epee orchestrated an excellent showing, posting an 8-1 record. Isabella Chin and Faith Park each went undefeated, posting identical touch differentials of +10. Chin finishes with a 5-1 record across both dual meets this weekend.
 
Women's saber fencers Zoe Kim and Chloe Williams were each perfect against the Violets, as both fencers recorded a +12 touch-differential. Kim is just one of three Harvard women's fencers to go undefeated in both dual meets against Duke and NYU.
