CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard fencing assistant coach
Jason Pryor is departing Cambridge to accept the head coach mantle at the Fencing Academy of Philadelphia's University City location.
Over the course of two full seasons with the Crimson, Pryor made a tremendous impact with the epee group at Harvard. Working alongside assistant coach
Adam Maczik, Pryor played a key role in the Crimson's march to the 2024 NCAA National Championship. During the Championship run, both the Men's epee and Women's epee squads dominated the field, winning a combined 63 bouts, while their nearest competitor tallied 54.
The 2024-25 saw student-athletes continue to thrive and find success. Harvard finished third at the 2025 NCAA Fencing Championships, the Crimson's seventh straight top-five team finish at the NCAA Fencing Championships. The epee squads again saw strong results at the NCAA Championships with sophomore
Sarah Gu earning All-America Second Team honors in her NCAA Championships debut last season, and junior
Henry Lawson finishing as runner-up in the men's epee competition.
On the strip, Pryor enjoyed a remarkable fencing career. Pryor represented the United States at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and was the United States' men's epee national champion in 2015. In his collegiate career at Ohio State, Pryor garnered All-America honors twice and led the Buckeyes to the 2012 NCAA National Championship.
