Guo, Zhang Earn National Awards from USFCA

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A pair of Crimson women's fencers garnered national awards after stellar 2025-26 seasons from the United States Fencing Coaches Association. Junior Jessica Zi Jia Guo is the National Women's Foil Collegiate Athlete of the Year, while first-year Lucia Zhang is the National Women's Foil Collegiate Newcomer of the Year.

A two-time Olympian for team Canada, Guo became just the third student-athlete in school history to win NCAA national championships this season, winning the 2026 NCAA Women's Foil National title by defeating Columbia's Carolina Stuchbury, 15-6, in the final. A native of Toronto, Ontario, Guo finished with a 20-3 record at the 2026 NCAA Championships.

Zhang was superb for the Crimson in her debut season in Cambridge. A native of Shanghai, China, Zhang earned All-America First Team honors after finishing in a tie for third place and tallying a 18-5 record. At the 2026 Ivy League Championships, Zhang pushed the Crimson, taking seventh place with a 12-5 record, earning All-Ivy League Second Team honors.

Both Harvard fencing programs finished in fourth place at the 2026 NCAA Fencing Championships, as the men's team earned a share of the 2026 Ivy League Championships.
