MARIETTA, GA. – A quartet of Crimson student-athletes from the 2023 NCAA Division I rugby champions squad traveled south over the holiday break to participate in USA Rugby U20's Winter Camp. First-years
Sydney Gottesman, Maya Hilger, Neasa McLaughlin, and
Courtney Taylor all embarked to Life University's campus in Marietta, Ga. from Dec. 27-Dec. 31 to work with Women's U20 head coach Joel Bonnaud.
Joining 30 other rugby athletes from across the country, the four Harvard student-athletes worked on skills that will assist them in their transition from U18 to U20. "This camp is dedicated to players who are brand new to the U20 age grade, and the main objective is twofold: given them the opportunity to get familiar and comfortable with our environment on and off the field, and see how much ownership they can take in a short period of time, both individually and collectively," coach Bonnaud said in a
release from USA Rugby.
All four student-athletes saw extended action on the field last fall in the 2023 15s season, aiding the Crimson in its undefeated march to Ivy and NCAA DI championships.
Harvard returns to the field in the spring for its 7's season slate. In the fall, the Crimson captured the second NCAA Division I championship in program history, going undefeated in a 15s season for the first time ever.
