AUSTIN, Texas – Harvard senior setter/right-side hitter
Ashley Wang has been named to the 2023 Academic All-America® Women's Volleyball Third Team as selected by the College Sports Communicators. Wang is the second Crimson player to earn Academic All-America accolades in program history and first since Elissa Hart '98 in 1997.
To be eligible for the Academic All-America squad, student-athletes must be named to the Academic All-District team. Qualification for that distinction requires players to have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 and be at least a sophomore academically. On the court, athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's sets played or must start in at least 66 percent of the school's total matches.
A native of Bolton, Wang owns a cumulative GPA of 3.84 and is studying applied mathematics at Harvard. Wang, who is the only Ivy League student-athlete to be named to any of the three Academic All-America teams, was an All-Ivy first-team selection in 2023, after posting 238 kills, 422 assists, 36 service aces, 188 digs and 77 total blocks.
