Nicholas Nyquist scored his first career game-winning goal, junior goalkeeper
Lucian Wood notched his first shutout of the season, and Harvard University men's soccer topped Yale University, 1-0, on Saturday night at Reese Stadium.
Following a scoreless first half, the Crimson (2-4-4, 1-2-0 Ivy) broke through in the 49
th minute on Nyquist's tally, and the visitors successfully defended against 16 shots and nine corner kicks from the Bulldogs (4-6-1, 1-2-0 Ivy) over the course of the match, including 12 shots and eight corners in the second half.
Nyquist notched his second goal of the season while juniors
Juho Ojanen and
Zachary Sardi-Santos each provided assists on the marker. Harvard posted its second clean sheet as a team in 2024.

- Junior Nicholas Nyquist scored his second goal of the season and the second of his career. He has scored two goals in his last three games played. Nyquist notched his first career game-winning goal.

- Harvard's back line of seniors Jan Riecke and Ludovico Rollo, junior Rustin Khosravi, and Sardi-Santos all played the full 90 minutes, helping the Crimson register its second shutout as a team in 2024.
How It Happened
- Junior goalkeeper Lucian Wood made a strong save to open the first half, diving to his right on a shot from the top of the box in the 16th minute prior to senior Jan Riecke stopping a shot on goal in the 34th minute.
- Sophomore Andreas Savva helped spearhead the Crimson's attack in the first half, creating dangerous opportunities through free kicks, corners, and crosses.
- The Crimson broke through in the 49th minute as junior Nicholas Nyquist found the back of the net off assists from juniors Juho Ojanen and Zachary Sardi-Santos. After Ojanen carried the ball along the left flank, he sent a cross to the edge of the six-yard box where Nyquist slotted a one-timed shot into the goal.
- Wood made solid saves in the 57th and 64th minutes to help keep the Crimson in front before Riecke kept a shot from entering the goal in the 68th minute.
- The Crimson back line answered all of the Bulldogs' questions in the second half, defending against 12 shots, three shots on goal, and eight corner kicks.
