CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's volleyball (9-8, 4-4 Ivy) will look to keep its winning ways going this weekend as it travels to Cornell (11-6, 5-3 Ivy) and Columbia (3-14, 0-8 Ivy) on Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2, respectively. The Crimson will first face the Big Red in Ithaca, N.Y. at 7:00 p.m. Friday before wrapping up its weekend at 6:00 p.m. the following night in New York City, N.Y.
What to Know
- With just six matches remaining in the regular season, Harvard sits at 9-8 overall and 4-4 in conference action. With its .500 Ivy League record, the Crimson are currently tied with Penn for the final spot in the top-half of the conference.
- This past weekend, Harvard got back into the win column as it opened the second half of the conference season at Dartmouth.
- Brynne Faltinsky led the Crimson with 18 kills while hitting a season-best .378. While also adding three digs and 1.5 total blocks, the junior became the first Harvard athlete to be awarded Ivy League Player of the Week honors this season. Faltinsky continues to rank inside the top three for kills in the conference by average 3.49 per set.
- Against the Big Green, Lindsey Zhang recorded 21 digs to help her surpass the career milestone of 1,000 career digs. In her strong senior season, the Crimson libero ranks third in the conference by averaging 3.79 digs per set.
- As a team, the Crimson rank second in the league in blocks, averaging 2.29 per set and having totaled 151 total blocks so far this season. Leading the defensive charge for Harvard is Ryleigh Patterson and Bennett Trubey who both rank inside the top five in blocks by averaging 1.15 and 1.09 per set, respectively.
- Patterson is also coming up big for the Crimson on the offensive end as she has totaled 142 kills and ranks sixth in conference in hitting percentage by hitting .349 through 66 sets played.
- Already having surpassed her previous career-best for assists in a season, Rocky Aguirre continues to lead Harvard and rank fourth in all of the Ivy League with 570 total assists and by averaging 8.64 per set.
- The Crimson will look continue to close the deficit in the all-time series and sweep the Big Red for the first time since 2015. Cornell currently holds a 30-43 advantage all-time but Harvard looked strong in its first meeting this season where it downed the Big Red, 3-1.
- Harvard currently has a 49-22 lead in the all-time series versus Columbia and will look to win its fourth straight against the Lions after dropping them 3-0 earlier this year.
