CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Crimson capped off another fall 15s season with its third NIRA Championship victory. Harvard finished the season 7-1-1, including playoffs, defeating Dartmouth in the final. Junior
Lennox London set a new program record for single-season tries with 17. The Crimson were led by senior captains
Sofia Hilger,
Carly Lehman, and
Reese Morgan.
Harvard began its 2024 campaign with a dominant 106-0 win over Mount Saint Mary's, with twelve different student-athletes finding the try zone to start the season on a strong note.
The Crimson hosted Quinnipiac in their second game of the season. In a back-and-forth battle at Mignone Field,
Lennox London scored in the final seconds to tie the game.
Next, the team played its first road game of the season against Sacred Heart on Sept. 13. The game came down to the wire, and with 1:30 remaining in the second half, Harvard made a critical push toward the try zone after a turnover, highlighted by a significant run from junior
Victoria Stanley. London scored her second try of the match, giving the Crimson the lead and the win.
Harvard's next road match up was against Brown on Oct. 5. The Crimson scored first but exchanged leads multiple times throughout the match. In the second half, Harvard edged out the lead, and the Bears couldn't bridge the gap, struggling to break through the Crimson defense. Harvard won 18-12, marking their eighth straight victory against Brown.
The Crimson hosted Dartmouth on Oct. 12 for the first time since last year's NIRA final.
Josephine Mignone scored two tries, and
Chloe Headland made a spectacular catch and run for the Crimson's third try of the game. However, Dartmouth prevailed, scoring in the last minute to win 26-19.
On Oct. 19, Harvard traveled to Queens University of Charlotte. The Crimson put up 60 points, backed by London's career-high four tries. Seven Harvard athletes found the try zone in the 60-17 victory.
Harvard hosted Navy in their final regular-season game on Oct. 26, exploding for 74 points to secure a spot in the NIRA semifinal the following week.
As the No. 2 seed, Harvard hosted No. 3 Army in the NIRA playoff semifinals on Nov. 16. The two teams exchanged leads multiple times before
Victoria Stanley broke the game open with an interception and a try for the Crimson. Harvard defeated Army 26-19, advancing to their third consecutive national title game.
The Crimson next faced Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire, for the 2024 NIRA Championship title on Nov. 23. The match was closely contested, with both teams exchanging tries and Harvard leading 12-5 at halftime. Dartmouth tied the game 12-12 in the second half, but a try by
Carly Lehman in the 64th minute put Harvard back in front. The Crimson's defense held firm in the final minutes, securing the victory and completing a successful season under coach
Mel Denham, who earned her third championship.
Tiahna Padilla was named Championship MVP for her stellar play.
