Women’s Swimming and Diving’s Janmyr Wins 3-Meter Diving at Minnesota Invite

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Harvard Women's Swimming and Diving junior Nina Janmyr won the 3-meter diving event on Thursday at the Minnesota Invitational. The victory highlighted a solid second day for the Crimson at The Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis.

How It Happened in the Prelims

  • Harvard opened its first full day with the prelims of the 500 free. Alexandra Bastone made the A-final with sixth-place time of 4:47.30. Kaylee McDonald, meanwhile, earned a spot in the B-final after finishing in 4:57.08. Both times were season-bests.
  • Stephanie Iannaccone punched her ticket to the A-final of the 200 IM after coming in seventh with a time of 2:00.39. Payton Foster (2:01.31) and Gabriella Augustyn (2:01.71) secured spots in the B-final, and Aleksandra Denisenko guaranteed her spot in the C-final with a prelim time of 2:02.63. Everyone who advanced to a final posted their best times of the campaign.
  • Sydney Lu qualified for the B-final of the 50 free after posing the 11th-fastest time in the field (22.77). The junior was tied with Morgan Thomas of Minnesota and Cal's Maggie Petty. Anya Mostek was on the outside looking in on the B-final, but secured a berth in the C-final with her 23.08. Both performances were their best to date.
  • Janmyr was the Crimson's top performer in the prelims of the 3-meter diving competition, posting a score of 294.90, which was good for third place. Ennika Carlson came in fourth with a season-best 290.15 and Elizabeth Miclau recorded the fifth-highest score (278.70). In addition to finishing 3-4-5, Harvard also placed seventh (Remi Edvalson – 269.30), ninth (Christina Shi – 255.95), 10th (Samantha Holtz – 252.75) and 11th (Tabitha Chen-Fiske – 243.60).

How It Happened in the Finals

  • Bastone opened the finals session for the Crimson with a third-place finish in the 500 free. The sophomore beat her previous season-best by nearly six seconds, which was set in the prelims, and finished in 4:41.69. Her time was an NCAA B-standard. McDonald, meanwhile, came in eighth place in the B-final (4:59.59).
  • Iannaccone placed eighth in the A-final of the 200 IM, completing the event in 2:00.68. Foster was the runner-up in the B-final, setting a personal-best time of 2:00.73, with Augustyn coming in sixth (2:02.26). In the C-final, Denisenko finished ahead of the pack with a season-best time of 2:01.12.
  • Lu won the B-final of the 50 free with an NCAA B-cut time of 22.56. Mostek also competed in the B-championship and finished in seventh place (23.19). Wieclawek was also victorious, capturing the C-final in season-best fashion (23.00).
  • Janmyr won the 3-meter diving competition with a score of 321.10, posting the best score of any Crimson diver this season. Miclau logged a top-5 finish, coming in fourth place (297.35), with Edvalson (6th, 286.80) and Carlson (8th, 262.70) rounding out the Harvard contingent.
  • The Crimson closed its night with a third-place showing in the 200 free relay. Lu, Mostek, Wieclawek and McDonald posted a time of 1:30.98, which was the best mark of any Harvard quartet this season. California won the event (1:27.54), with Minnesota (1:30.09) coming in second place.

Up Next

The Crimson returns to pool on Friday for Day 3 of the Minnesota Invitational. Swimming prelims are set for 11 a.m. ET, with diving trials set for 2 p.m. ET. The finals session is scheduled for a 7 p.m. ET start.
