Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men's Hockey Falls to No. 1 Boston College in Beanpot Finale

BOSTON, Mass. – Men's Ice Hockey fell in the Beanpot consolation game by a score of 5-0 on Monday evening. Down 1-0 heading into the dying minutes of the second period, the Eagles added two goals in the final minute of the second period to take a commanding lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Tommy Lyons drew an early power-play for the Crimson in the first period after getting shoved from behind into the glass. Later on in the opening twenty, Cam Johnson drew a penalty after he was held in the corner. Despite generating some good looks the power-play unit didn't convert on either attempt.

Derek Mullahy made an impressive stop on first-rounder Will Smith after just getting over to squeeze the post on a one-timer opportunity. The senior stopped all eight shots he faced in the opening period.

The Crimson had to kill off a pair of penalties to Ian Moore in the second frame. Mullahy made two big stops on one-time chances from Cutter Gauthier and Lukas Gustafsson.

The Eagles scored the opening goal of the game after Ryan Leonard pounced on a loose puck in the crease to hand the Eagles the lead. The Eagles went on to add two goals in the final minute of the second period to increase their lead into the break.

Aku Koskenvuo replaced Derek Mullahy to start the third period for the Crimson. Eamon Powell scored in the third period to stretch the lead to 4-0 in the third.
