PROVIDENCE, R.I. – In the series finale at Brown Softball Stadium, Harvard softball dropped a narrow 2-0 contest against Brown on Sunday afternoon.
Junior pitcher
Katie Arrambide orchestrated an outstanding showing in the circle after taking over in the third inning. Arrambide tossed four scoreless innings, striking out a season-high five batters while only allowing two hits and one walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The hosts took the initial lead in their half of the first inning. With two runners on, Brown found a gap in the outfield for a two-run RBI double, 2-0.
After tossing her first complete game shutout of the year in Harvard's 3-0 victory against the Bears in game one of the series, senior
Anna Reed started the series finale, putting in two innings of work, allowing three hits and two runs with one strikeout.
An excellent relief performance from Arrambide kept Harvard withing striking distance for the whole contest. A native of Saint Charles, Ill., Arrambide sat down five Brown hitters on strikes, setting a new single-game season high in strikeouts.
The Crimson finished the game with three hits, as three different student-athletes logged a base hit. Across all three games, senior infielder
Madi Mays and first-year infielder
Sophie Sun each drove in a team-high three RBIs.
