Men’s Tennis Set to Host Penn and Princeton in Final Regular Season Matches

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 13 Harvard men's tennis (18-6, 4-1 Ivy) will face No. 66 Penn (15-11, 1-4 Ivy) and No. 27 Princeton (21-6, 4-1 Ivy) this weekend in its return to Cambridge, Mass. The Crimson will first take on the Quakers on Saturday, April 20 at 1:00 p.m. before battling the Tigers on Sunday, April 21 at 1:00 p.m.

What to Know

  • The Crimson currently stand at 18-6 overall and 4-1 in conference play, having won 11 of its last 13 matches. Six of those wins came against ranked opponents.
  • Last weekend Harvard defeated No. 30 Cornell, 4-2, before falling to No. 10 Columbia, 3-4.
  • With two wins this weekend, the Crimson can clinch at least a share of the Ivy title.
  • In the most recent ITA Men's Division I Team Rankings, the Crimson checked in at No. 13 in the nation. Harvard has not fallen out of the top-15 since reentering it on February 8, 2023. 
  • Two Crimson players checked in on the singles poll this week, led by Cooper Williams ranking No. 13 and followed by Henry von der Schulenburg at No. 69. The duo of Daniel Milavsky and Williams sit as the No. 10 doubles pair in the nation. 
  • Milavsky is having a strong junior campaign while leading the team in both singles and doubles victories. The junior is 18-8 overall and a dominant 14-5 in dual action while playing primarily at the No. 3 singles spot. While mostly teaming up with Williams in doubles action, Milavsky has racked up an overall record of 26-10 in 2023-24. 
  • Seven other Crimson players have eclipsed double digit singles victories in Melchior Delloye with 15, Williams with 14 victories, Ronan Jachuck with 13, Masato Perera with 12, and von der Schulenberg, Valdemar Pape, and David Lins each with 11. 
  • Harvard has accumulated a strong 83-13 advantage over Penn in the all-time series. In the match up last season, the Crimson defeated the Quakers 4-2.
  • Against the Tigers, Harvard holds a 61-46 all-time record and most recently beat Princeton 6-1 last season.

Next Up

After this weekend, the Crimson will be awaiting its selection to the NCAA Tournament. The first round will be held May 3 – May 5.
