CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 50 Harvard women's tennis improved its winning streak to 11 as it avenged its ECAC Championship opening round loss by downing No. 45 Yale, 4-2, this evening.
How it Happened
The Crimson began the day by grabbing the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and 3 positions.
Holly Fischer and
Stephanie Yakoff kept their winning ways going with a 6-4 victory at the No. 1 spot.
Natalie Block and
Sany Gawande then put up a dominant, 6-0, performance to secure the doubles point.
Moving into singles,
Holly Fischer and
Stephanie Yakoff both picked up their second wins of the day with a pair of victories at the top two spots. Fischer defeated Orly Ogilvy (Yale) in straight sets while Yakoff picked up her first career Ivy win with a three set thriller over Mirabelle Bretkelly (Yale).
Kate Kim also registered her first career Ivy win and 22
nd overall victory by defeating AnnWright Guerry (Yale), 6-2, 6-4, at the No. 5 spot. With the victory the Crimson improve to 15-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play to tie its program record of 11 straight wins.
