CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University Sailing sits in second place after day one of the 2024 Intercollegiate Sailing Association Open Fleet Race National Championships on Sunday on the Charles River at the Harvard Sailing Center with Harvard and MIT serving as event co-hosts.
Over 10 rotations on the day, the Crimson tallied 118 points on day one to reach second place, trailing only first-place Yale (106 points). Harvard leads third-place Dartmouth (135), fourth-place Brown (142), fifth-place U.S. Coast Guard Academy (163), sixth-place Stanford (163), and 12 other programs in the 18-team finals field.
Harvard's A division entry stands in third place in its division with 62 points. The Crimson notched four top-three finishes over the 10 races, including wins in the first, third, and eighth rotations.
Lachlain McGranahan represented the Crimson as a skipper while
Marbella Marlo competed as crew.
The Crimson's B division entry ranks in second place with 56 points. Harvard registered five top-three finishes, including victories in races three, five, six, and seven.
Justin Callahan competed for the Crimson as a skipper while
Kennedy Leehealey represented Harvard as a crew.
Over the course of Friday and Saturday, Harvard won the Eastern semifinal to earn a spot in Sunday and Monday's finals.
Next, Harvard will close competition at the ICSA Open Fleet Race Finals tomorrow – Monday, May 27.
