Softball Falls to Princeton in the Ivy League Tournament, Will Face Dartmouth or Yale in the Next Round

PRINCETON, N.J. – In its second game of the 2024 Ivy League Tournament, Harvard softball dropped a narrow decision to Princeton, losing 3-1 against the tournament hosts.

After pitching nine innings against Yale in the Crimson's 12-4 victory against the Bulldogs, senior pitcher Anna Reed enjoyed another stellar showing in the circle. A 2024 All-Ivy League First Team honoree, Reed allowed three runs in her seven innings of work, retiring two batters on strikes. Reed has pitched every inning at the 2024 Ivy League Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

After the first two frames went scoreless, the tournament hosts scored the first run of the contest on an infield single in the third inning, 1-0. Princeton (28-15, 14-7 Ivy) added to its lead later in the inning, scoring two on an RBI-single, 3-0.

Harvard (25-16, 14-7) reduced the deficit in the bottom of the fourth inning. Junior outfielder and team captain Savannah Fitzpatrick started the frame strong for the Crimson, ripping a leadoff single to center field. With one out and Fitzpatrick on third after a passed ball, sophomore infielder Finley Payne grounded into a fielder's choice, allowing the Crimson's first run to score, 3-1.
