PARIS – Jade Rose and the Canadian women's national soccer team completed its first mission of the 2024 Paris Olympics this afternoon by defeating Colombia, 1-0, to earn a spot in the quarterfinals of the Olympic tournament. Team Canada completed an undefeated run in the group stage by earning three wins to keep its Olympic gold medal defense alive.
Jade Rose started in her third consecutive match for the Canadian side and played the full match on the backline to help her team shut out Colombia and record its first clean sheet of the Olympics. The current Harvard women's soccer captain has played every minute of the tournament so far for Team Canada.
Canada soccer now moves on to play Germany – currently ranked the fourth-best team in the world by FIFA - in the first round of the knockout stage. The match is set for this Saturday, August 3, at 1:00 PM EST at the Orange Vélodrome in Marseille, France. The match will also air live on Peacock.
