CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's volleyball defeated Dartmouth, 3-1 (25-18, 25-17, 23-25, 26-24) in its Ivy League Opener at the Malkin Athletic Center on Friday night.
The Crimson (6-4, 1-0 Ivy) won the first two sets of the match and rallied to take set four in extra points to top the visiting Big Green (7-3, 0-1 Ivy).
For Harvard,
Brynne Faltinsky had a match-high of 20 kills, followed by eight digs.
Rocky Aguirre compiled a double-double on a match-high 41 assists and 15 digs.
Lindsey Zhang posted a match-high of 21 digs.
How it Happened
Harvard opened the set to a 7-2 lead and extended that margin to 12-6, then 16-8. The Crimson did not allow the Big Green to come any closer than six points during the remainder of the set, winning the set 25-18.
Holding an 11-10 lead, the Crimson used an 11-3 run to move ahead 22-13. Harvard scores three of the last four points to win the set, winning the set 25-17.
Dartmouth opened set three with a lead of 6-1 against the Crimson. Harvard pulled within one at 11-10 and 20-10 before tying the score 21-21 and 22-22. The Big Green closed the set to 25-23.
Dartmouth led 5-2 at the beginning of set four and continued forward to 11-7. Harvard pulled ahead to tie the score 15-15. Crimson remained ahead 22-20 until Dartmouth went ahead 24-23. Harvard responded by taking the last three points of the match.
