CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's volleyball cruised past Stonehill on the opening night of the season for the second straight year, blanking the Skyhawks, 3-0. A career night from
Corinne Furey led the Crimson in the sweep as the senior outside hitter posted 16 kills with a .333 hitting percentage, along with five digs.
How it Happened
The first set was a back-and-forth affair between the Crimson and the Skyhawks as neither team was able to pull further than three points ahead. Ultimately, a 3-0 run, beginning with a Furey kill, solidified the opening set, 25-22 for the home team.
Harvard used the second set to build its momentum in the match, pulling out to a 14-6 lead following a 6-1 scoring run. With significant separation, the Crimson used several more scoring runs and ultimately, a set ending Furey kill to lock in Harvard's 25-15 second set victory.
The Crimson posted another dominant performance in the third set to collect its first win of the season, marking a 1-0 start for the second straight year. Another series of scoring runs allowed Harvard to create a comfortable distance from the Skyhawks. Furey and
Ryleigh Patterson accounted for four of the Crimson final five points, solidifying the third set at 25-17.
Harvard Highlights
- Corinne Furey bested her previous best of 10 kills with a 16 kills and a .333 hitting percentage performance against the Skyhawks.
- Brynee Faltinsky narrowly missed double digit kills by adding nine to the teams total of 41.
- Riley Resmer had a strong collegiate debut, adding seven kills with a .455 hitting percentage along with four block assists.
- Lindsey Zhang led the team in both digs and aces, posting 11 and four, respectively. The four aces ties a career high for the senior, a mark that she previously hit in her first season.
- The Crimson ended the match with a .234 hitting percentage while holding the Skyhawks to a .077 hitting percentage.
- Harvard bested the Skyhawks in nearly every statistical category, posting 41 kills, 37 assists, 10 aces, and 45 digs throughout the three sets.
- With the win, the Crimson move to 2-0 in series history against the Skyhawks.

The Crimson will return to the court tomorrow with a pair of matches to close out the Harvard Invitational.
