Women’s Swimming and Diving Adds Two Victories Over Hawai'i and Arkansas to Remain Unbeaten

HONOLULU, HI – Harvard women's swimming and diving concluded its training trip in Hawai'i this evening by battling University of Hawai'i and Arkansas at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.  The Crimson remains undefeated on the year as it dropped the Rainbow Wahine, 172-71, and the Razorbacks, 160-83. 

What to Know

  • The Crimson had a strong showing in diving as three divers finished inside the top five of the 3-meter.  Nina Janmyr (314.95) and Remi Edvalson (308.40) were the top finishers for Harvard in the event, taking second and third place, respectively.  Elizabeth Miclau followed, finishing in fifth with a score of 302.50.  Samantha Holtz (296.75), Tabitha Chen-Fiske (272.95), and Ennika Carlson (228.65) rounded of the Crimson competitors, finishing in seventh, 12th, and 16th, respectively.  Edvalson, Miclau, and Chen-Fiske all posted season-high scores in the event with their performances this afternoon. 
  • Edvalson had another strong showing in the 1-meter event, finishing second with a score of 284.90.  Three additional Crimson divers finished inside the top seven with Amy Wotovich (271.95) landing in the four spot followed by Janmyr (260.95) and Miclau (257.90) going 6-7, respectively. 
  • To open competition on the swimming side of things, Harvard placed first and third in the 400-medley relay.  Anya Mostek, Aleksandra Denisenko, Sydney Lu, and Mandy Brenner set the pace, finishing with a time of 3:43.57. 
  • Harvard continued its winning ways through the next two events as Alexandra Bastone and Molly Hamlin each took first place in the 1000 (10:03.99) and 200 (1:49.69) free, respectively.  The duo each added another victory later in the meet as Bastone won the 500 free (4:55.75) and Hamlin led the way in a 1-2 Harvard finish in the 200 back (2:00.80). 
  • Stephanie Iannaccone added two victories to the Crimson win total, first with a narrow victory in the 200 IM.  With a time of 2:02.83, Iannaccone bested her opponent by two hundredths of a second.  Later on, Iannaccone finished with a time of 2:16.55 to claim the 200 breast crown. 
  • Sydney Lu contributed to the Harvard win total by posting a time of 2:02.64 to finish in first in the 200 fly. 
  • Harvard finished its night with one final victory as Blythe Wieclawek, Anya Mostek, Hamlin, and Kaylee McDonald teamed up to win the 200 free relay (1:33.70). 

Next Up

The Crimson will return to league action in two weekends when it welcomes the Penn Quakers to Cambridge.  The Ivy match up is slated for a 2:00 p.m. ET start inside Blodgett Pool and on ESPN+.
