CAMBRIDGE, Mass.–
Casey Severo netted the eventual game-winning goal in the second period, and
Aku Koskenvuo stopped 23 of 24 shots on his way to earning his second straight Tim Taylor Cup as MVP of the Harvard-Yale Game. The Crimson took six of a possible six points this weekend after a 3-1 win over its Ivy rival.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The game was scoreless after the first period on Coach Cleary night, with both teams generating some dangerous scoring chances, but neither team found the back of the net. The Crimson was unable to score in its lone power-play opportunity in the first.
Michael Callow opened the scoring after capitalizing on a defensive miscue by the Bulldogs' defensemen for an early lead in the second period. Twenty seconds into the period, Callow netted his second goal of the season to get the offense off and running.
Casey Severo followed that up with a goal of his own less than five minutes later after beating Stark blocker-side for his seventh of the year. Assisted by
Justin Solovey and
Kyle Aucoin, the Crimson offense began to control much of the period after jumping out to a two-goal lead.
Yale scored to make it 2-1 in the third period on a power-play goal.
A minute later,
Philip Tresca netted his first goal of the season after banking it off Stark's pads and into the net to answer for the Crimson and regain the two-goal lead.
Mick Thompson and
Joe Miller picked up the helpers to seal the deal for the Crimson and secure the 3-1 win.
