Tresca Nets Game Winner Against Raiders

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Philip Tresca netted the game-winning goal in the third period after deflecting a Mason Langenbrunner shot to help lead the Crimson a 4-1 win over Colgate on Saturday night. Joe Miller, Mick Thompson, and Justin Solovey scored the other three markers for the Crimson while Ben Charette made 34 saves in the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Crimson created multiple chances in the opening period in the last game of a five-game road. Hitting the post on three separate occasions, including two from Joe Miller, the Crimson was unable to find the back of the net. Outshooting the Raiders 8-5 in the first twenty, Harvard was unsuccessful on its lone power-play in the first.

Harvard started the second with another man advantage but couldn't find the back of the net despite good pressure from both power-play units. Colgate scored five minutes into the second after capitalizing on a two-on-one to beat Charette.

Joe Miller tied the game at one after a one-timer in the slot. The top line went to work behind the net as Mick Thompson found Miller alone in front for the equalizer. Miller's first goal since the Friendship Four in November helped give the Crimson a much-needed tying goal heading into the third period.

Tied at one, Matthew Morden was sent to the box just thirty seconds into the third but the Crimson PK unit held strong. Making 16 saves in the third period, one of Charette's best saves of the night came off a good Raider look in the slot with 12:00 to go in the game.

With just under ten minutes to go, Harvard won the face-off back to Mason Langenbrunner who threw a puck on net that was deflected by Philip Tresca for the first Crimson lead of the night.

Mick Thompson and Justin Solovey picked up empty net goals to stretch the Crimson lead to 4-1 at the final buzzer.
