Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men's Hockey Falls In Overtime to Princeton

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Men's hockey fell in overtime 4-3 to the Princeton Tigers in its first home game in two weeks. The Crimson now turns its attention to the Beanpot when it will play Boston University in the first round on Monday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Crimson hit two posts in the first period and generated multiple scoring opportunities. Firing a shot through traffic, Lucas St. Louis tried to give the Crimson an early 1-0 lead, but despite beating Pearson, the shot from the rookie went off the post and out.

The Tigers opened the scoring midway through the first period after a Princeton rush left a guy open at the side of the net. The Crimson got its first look on the power play late in the first period that carried over into the start of the second.

Ben MacDonald scored the first Crimson goal in his return to the lineup. Cam Johnson picked up a Princeton turnover in the offensive zone and found MacDonald with a beautiful pass to tie the game at one. MacDonald added his fourth goal of the season in his first game since Jan. 10.

Some more good offensive zone work from the Crimson led to Cam Johnson's go-ahead goal. Ian Moore picked up a pass from Matthew Morden behind the net, walked the line, and threw a shot on net that Cam Johnson deflected to give the Crimson the lead. A great period from the Crimson had it leading heading into the final twenty.

Two quick Princeton goals had the Crimson trailing for the second time in the evening. However, Ian Moore answered two minutes later to tie the game at three.

For the third time in the last five games against the Tigers, the game went to overtime. Despite some great looks from the Crimson, it was unable to score in the extra frame, and the Tigers converted late in the OT period to win 4-3.
