NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Harvard men's tennis won nine of 12 matches to begin play in the main draws at the ITA New England Regionals today in New Haven.
Benjamin Privara (two),
Valdemar Pape (four),
Melchior Delloye (five),
Rohan Murali (six) and
Masato Perera (eight) all entered the draw as seeded players and defeated their opponents in straight sets.
Delloye recorded the most dominant win, defeating Carlos Braun Simo (Quinnipiac) while only dropping three games. Murali and Perera followed closely behind, giving up four and five games, respectively.
Nathan Blokhin added the final singles win of the day to record his first collegiate victory, dropping Leo Pade in straight sets. After battling through the first set, 7-6 (5), Blokhin closed the match with a 6-3 second set.
The Crimson went on to win three of four doubles matches as each of its seeded duos came out victorious.
Pape/Privara and Perera/Delloye dropped Dartmouth foes by 8-5 and 8-6 decisions, respectively. Murali/
Kolos Kincses rounded out the Crimson doubles wins with an unblemished 8-0 win over Leo Pade and Calvin Wang (Dartmouth).
