CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard-Radcliffe heavyweight rowing team will take to the Charles River this weekend for the 60th Head of the Charles Regatta, held Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 18–19. The Black and White return to action on their home course following a resurgent 2024–25 campaign that culminated in a return to the NCAA Championships and renewed momentum for the storied program.
Harvard-Radcliffe will field multiple entries across the weekend, including two boats in the Club Eight on Saturday at 1:44 p.m. (Bows #2 and #42) and two boats in the Championship Eight on Sunday at 2:42 p.m. (Bows #9 and #14).
WHAT TO KNOW
NCAA Return:The Black and White are coming off a strong 2025 spring season that saw the program qualify for the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2019—and the 17th time in school history. The appearance capped a year of steady progress and underscored Harvard-Radcliffe's place among the nation's top programs.
Coaching Leadership:The Black and White are guided by Head Coach
Claire Ochal, now in her third season at the helm, alongside assistant coaches
Hannah Woodruff and
Dan Harrison. Together, the staff has emphasized technical precision, race toughness, and a culture of consistency that has powered the team's upward trajectory.
Team Captains:Senior leaders
Lindsey Brail and
Jenna Kempster-Taylor captain the 2025–26 squad, bringing experience, composure, and drive to a young but motivated roster. Both were key contributors during last spring's NCAA campaign and continue to set the tone on and off the water.
A Milestone Year:The 2025 Head of the Charles celebrates its 60th anniversary, welcoming thousands of athletes and spectators to the banks of the Charles River. For the Black and White, it represents both a homecoming and an opportunity to measure themselves against elite national and international crews early in the racing calendar.
