CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After collecting a career high three points in the first game of Harvard Women's Hockey's 2025-26 season, sophomore Keira Ley was named the ECAC Defender of the Week. Her first career weekly honor also goes down as the first weekly award for the team as it begins its new season.
 
Ley was stellar in the Crimson's first game of the season against Saint Michael's last Friday. The sophomore blueliner got right into the mix offensively, recording an assist on Harvard's first goal of the year from Brooke Manning. Eight minutes later, Ley would put her name on the score sheet for the first time in her young career after scoring from the point. The Massachusetts native recorded her final point of the night with an assist on Angelica Megdanis' – who also had three points in the contest – first strike of 2025-26.   
 
Just the sixth defender since the 2018 to record three or more points in a game, Ley became the first Harvard blueliner to reach the total in one game since Mia Biotti in the 2022-23 season against RPI. The sophomore also finished with a +5 rating on the night which was the second highest +/- in a game since 2018. The record – a +6 mark – was set by Dominique Petrie '22 in the 2018 season.
 
Keira Ley and her teammates are already back to work preparing for a stacked weekend of hockey. The Crimson are set to host a pair of top 10 opponents when the No. 5 Cornell Big Red and the No. 9 Colgate Raiders come to Bright-Landry for the first ECAC Weekend of the season.
