CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard men's tennis will return to action in Philadelphia, Pa. this weekend as it sends four players to the Ivy League Qualifier Tournament.
What to Know
- This tournament will serve as a qualifier for the ITA Conference Masters being held Friday, November 7 through Monday, November 10 in San Diego, Calif. The winners of the singles and doubles draw will advance to the tournament in two weekends and battle for a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
- Each Ivy League squad will send four singles players and two doubles teams to compete in Philadelphia this weekend.
- Rohan Murali, Nathan Blokhin, Masato Perera, and Valdemar Pape will represent the Crimson in the tournament this weekend.
- Murali has recorded seven wins so far in the young season including two as the No. 6 seed at the ITA New England Regionals. The junior's weekend came to an end after falling to his teammate, Blokhin, in a three-set battle.
- Blokhin's first collegiate appearance was strong as he rattled off three victories to advance to the quarterfinals at the regionals as an unseeded player.
- Perera has continued his consistent play across both singles and doubles play having recorded four wins in both so far this fall.
- Pape has looked dominant to open his senior campaign posting records of 6-1 in singles and 4-1 in doubles. The Denmark native advanced to the quarterfinals at the ITA New England Regionals two weekends ago and was a perfect 3-0 at Chowderfest, to open the fall.
