PRINCETON, N.J. – No. 17/14 Harvard Football scored 25 unanswered points in a 35-14 road win at Princeton. The Crimson's first win at Princeton since 2016 moved it to 6-0 for the first time since 2015. The victory also improved Harvard's Ivy League record to 3-0, while the Tigers fell to 2-1 (3-3 overall).
How It Happened
- The Crimson struck first when Jaden Craig found a wide-open and streaking Cam Henry. The quarterback hit the wide receiver in stride on a 69-yard touchdown pass to put the visitors ahead, 7-0, with 10:37 left in the first quarter.
- Princeton leveled the score just before the end of the first when Kai Colon connected with Aidan Besselman for the 17-yard TD strike (1st, 1:27).
- Harvard opened the second quarter with the ball and Xaviah Bascon did the heavy lifting with four straight rushes, including a long of 27 yards. The Crimson got to the Tigers 4-yard line, but could not punch the ball in. It ultimately settled for a 22-yard Kieran Corr field goal to push Harvard to a 10-7 lead (2nd, 12:02).
- After Harvard forced a turnover on downs on a 4th-and-1 attempt by the Tigers, Craig threw an interception four plays later. Princeton took advantage of the turnover and got a 51-yard TD catch-and-run from Ethan Clark to help the hosts to a 14-10 lead with 3:50 to go before halftime.
- The Crimson answered the Tigers' TD by marching down the field, thanks in part to a 25-yard Seamus Gilmartin reception, and reaching the Princeton 7-yard line. Harvard, however, could not find the endzone and Corr booted a 25-yard field goal to bring the Crimson to within one at 14-13, with 65 seconds remaining in the half.
- Nineteen seconds after the Corr field goal, Jack Kirkwood intercepted a Colon pass, giving the Harvard offense the ball back on the Princeton 32. On the third play of the possession, Bascon rushed up the middle for 28 yards. The running back then rushed for a 4-yard TD to put the Crimson back in front. Craig then converted the 2-point conversion on a shovel pass to Jordan Harris. The two sequences put Harvard ahead, 21-14, with 18 seconds left and took the lead into the locker room.
- After a scoreless third quarter by both teams, Harvard wasted little time in the fourth, scoring on an Isaiah Bullock 1-yard rush just two seconds into the frame. The Crimson now led, 28-14.
- DJ Gordon provided the final TD of the afternoon when he rushed nine yards up the middle to cap an 8-play, 62-yard drive. Harvard played out the final 9:04 as the game ended in a 21-point Crimson victory.
