CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Women's Swimming and Diving defeated Brown, 172-71, on Friday afternoon in the 2025-26 lidlifter for both squads. The Crimson, which has now won five straight season openers, moved to 1-0 (1-0 Ivy League), while the Bears dropped to 0-1 (0-1 Ivy).
How It Happened
- Harvard opened its Breast Cancer Awareness Meet with wins in the 200 medley relay and 1,000 free. The quartet of Anya Mostek, Aliana Marakovic, Kiley Wilhelm and Sydney Lu won the relay with a time of 1:41.80. Alexandra Bastone continued the Crimson's hot start, completing the race in 10:09.54.
- Harvard later went on to win four consecutive events, beginning with the 50 free. Mostek posted a time of 23.14 and was followed by Lu (23.36) and Blythe Wieclawek (23.85). Wilhelm then won the 200 IM (2:00.58), Ennika Carlson captured the 3-meter diving event (291.75), and Wilhelm was victorious again, winning the 200 fly in 1:59.50.
- Mostek added another victory to her ledger when she edged Brown's Natalie Garre in the 200 back. The senior finished the race in 2:01.13, which was a touch faster than Garre's time of 2:01.61.
- Mostek's win in the 200 back was the first of five consecutive decisions to end the afternoon. Carolina Daher won in her Harvard debut, registering a winning time of 4:54.53 in the 500 free. After Carlson swept the diving events with her triumph in the 1-meter competition (267.00), Daher's first-year classmate, Marakovic, captured the 200 breast in 2:17.62. Harvard then put the finishing touches on its opener by winning the 400 free in 3:21.98 (Lu, Mostek, Bastone, Wilhelm).
