PRINCETON, N.J. – Men's water polo picked up its biggest win of the season Sunday morning at DeNunzio Pool, taking down No. 12 Princeton, 13-12.
The Crimson earned its first ranked win of the season with a complete team effort, building an early lead and holding off the Tigers' late surge. With the victory, Harvard clinched at least a season split with its Ivy rivals and extended its streak of avoiding a regular-season sweep against Princeton to 12 consecutive years (dating back to 2013).
Harvard jumped out to a 5-2 lead behind a pair of early goals from Connor Kim and never trailed in the contest. Despite being outscored in the second half, senior goalkeeper Tanner Furtak anchored the defense with nine key saves to preserve the one-goal advantage.
HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS
- Lukas Peabody netted a pair of goals.
- Connor Kim totaled four points on a hat trick and one assist.
- Vilas Sogaard-Srikrishan recorded a season-best six points (three goals, three assists).
- Dean Strauser and Jack Burghardt continued their strong offensive play, with Strauser contributing five points and Burghardt adding four.
