CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Football continued its climb in both major top-25 polls on Monday, rising to No. 7 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll and jumping to No. 11 in the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll. Both rankings are the best in program history.
Â
The Crimson enters this week's action with a single-digit national ranking in the Stats Perform poll for the second week in a row. Harvard, which was No. 9 seven days ago, inched up two spots to set a program record for best media-poll ranking for the second consecutive week.
Â
At the Ivy League level, Harvard's No. 7 ranking is the conference's best ranking since at least 1986, when Penn appeared at No. 6 in the NCAA Division I-AA football rankings. Prior to today, the highest media-poll ranking enjoyed by an Ancient Eight member was Penn's No. 8 position in 2003.
Â
As for the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll, the Crimson's No. 11 ranking is a new program record, eclipsing last week's No. 13 slot, which was also achieved in 2015.
Â
Harvard is in its current position as a result of its 8-0 record (5-0 Ivy League). The Crimson, which checked in at No. 9 in last week's NCAA FCS Top 10 Reveal, is unbeaten through eight games for the first time since 2015, and can clinch at least a share of the Ivy League title this week vs. Penn. The two-time defending Ivy champions will play host to the Quakers on Saturday at noon ET (ESPN+).
