Six Different Crimson Score in Men's Hockey Win Over Stonehill

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Six different Crimson found the back of the net in a 6-2 win over Stonehill on Tuesday night. Starting fast, Harvard picked up its first win of the season ahead of a pair of ECAC games this weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Ben MacDonald opened the scoring for the Crimson just over three minutes into the game after Joe Miller fed him a pass that gave the junior a wide-open net. The play was started by first-year defenseman Drake Murray, who recorded his first collegiate point after starting the breakout in the Crimson end.

With time expiring on the first power play of the game, Mick Thompson found Marek Hejduk on the far dot for Harvard's first power-play goal of the season. The senior was falling as he picked the corner for an early 2-0 lead.

Philip Tresca kept the train rolling after being left all alone with no defenders in sight for the third goal of the period. Set free off a pass from Drake Murray, Tresca went forehand-backhand to send the Crimson into the break with a commanding lead.

Casey Severo picked up where he left off last season after getting just enough on a shot to beat the Skyhawks netminder. The senior collected a puck in the slot and made a quick move before barely sneaking it through the goaltender.

Stonehill fought back with two goals to cut the Crimson lead to two heading into the third period.

The score remained the same for much of the final frame before Mick Thompson hit an empty net to make it 5-2. Aidan Lane sealed the deal shortly after with his first career goal, finishing off a beautiful passing play from Matthew Morden and Heikki Ruohonen. The Ontario native capped the scoring with Harvard's sixth goal of the night.
