MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Harvard Women's Swimming and Diving sophomore
Kiley Wilhelm set the program record in the 100 fly during the prelims and then reset the standard in the A-final on Day 2 of the Minnesota Invitational.
The Crimson has earned 855.50 points to sit in third place behind No. 6 California (1,237) and No. 21 Minnesota (1,143.50). Denver (629.50), Rutgers (547.50) and UNLV (434) round out the team standings.
Prelims Highlights
- Wilhelm started things off by setting the school record in the 100 fly, posting a time of 51.87, which was the fastest time in the field and secured herself an NCAA qualifying time. The sophomore broke the previous record held by Miki Dahlke, who swam a 51.88 in 2020. Sydney Lu, meanwhile, guaranteed herself a spot in the A-final with a prelim time of 53.47 (8th place).
- Alexandra Bastone came in sixth place during the prelims of the 400 IM, clocking in at 4:17.46.
- Bastone and Carolina Daher both recorded top-8 times to advance to the A-final of the 200 free. Bastone finished in seventh place with a time of 1:47.46 and Daher was one spot behind in eighth (1:48.04).
- Aliana Marakovic finished in fourth place in the prelims of the 100 breast. The first-year completed the race in 1:01.34, which was the fourth-fastest time in school history.
- Wilhelm and Anya Mostek went 2-3 in the prelims of the 100 back. Wilhelm was 0.02 seconds off an NCAA qualifying time, finishing in 52.67 (No. 2 all-time at Harvard). Mostek, meanwhile, secured a lane in the A-final with a time of 52.78.
Finals Highlights
- After setting the school record during the prelims of the 100 fly, Wilhelm one-upped herself in the final, improving her time to 51.78 as she came in third place. Lu, meanwhile, was fifth after turning in a time of 52.78.
- Bastone came in sixth place in the 400 IM after completing the race in 4:17.59, and later finished in seventh in the A-final of the 200 free (season-best 1:47.19). Daher also competed in the 200 free final and came in eighth (1:48.06).
- Marakovic posted a season-best 1:01.15 (No. 4 all-time at Harvard) to finish in third place in the 100 breast. Stephanie Iannaccone was the runner-up in the B-final with a season-best time of 1:03.44.
- Mostek finished in fourth place in the 100 back, wrapping up the event in 53.06.
- Samantha Holtz was Harvard's lone athlete in the finals of the 3-meter diving competition and finished in fifth place (288.65).
- Lu, Daher, Bastone and Wilhelm competed in the 800 free relay for the first time this season and posted a runner-up performance. Their 7:07.51 was good for the fifth-best time in school history.
