Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Women’s Ice Hockey Defeated by No. 8 Clarkson

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The final weekend of the regular season for the Harvard Crimson began this evening at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center as the team welcomed in the nationally ranked Clarkson Golden Knights. The Crimson (2-23-2, 1-19-1 ECAC) got another solid outing from first-year goaltender, Ainsley Tuffy, but could not get past the Golden Knights (21-10-2, 12-8-1 ECAC), who escaped Cambridge with a 4-0 win.

How It Happened

The Crimson welcomed the Golden Knights to the Bright-Landry Hockey Center this evening to kick off the final weekend of the regular season. The Golden Knights had the first series of chances in the contest, recording seven shots on goal in the opening ten minutes. Harvard's starting goaltender, Ainsley Tuffy, was up to the task, making all seven saves to keep the eighth-ranked Knights off the scoreboard. A very fast-paced and physical ended with Clarkson scoring the first goal of the game, taking a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

A fast start to the second period by the Crimson – that saw the team log three consecutive shots on goal - was cut short after Clarkson scored its second goal of the game five minutes into the second period. The Knights would add one more goal in the third period to take a 3-0 lead into the second intermission.

Antonina Dinges and Angelica Megdanis both put good attempts on goal to start the third period but were stopped the Clarkson keeper. The Crimson kept pushing for that first goal in the final frame as Ella Lucia and Scout Oudemool created a pair of good chances midway through the frame. Clarkson held strong, holding off the Harvard push. The Golden Knights added one more late goal to seal the win.
