Guzzo Scores Lone Goal in 2-1 Loss to Union

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Salvatore Guzzo opened the scoring but Harvard fell to Union by a score of 2-1 on Friday night. The Crimson held the lead late in the second period before Union responded with two unanswered goals late in the period to help lead them to a crucial ECAC win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Crimson controlled much of the play in the first period including throughout its own penalty kill early in the game. Harvard led 7-1 in shots after the first 10 minutes and by the end of the period had outshot the Garnett Chargers by a score of 15-4.

After a scoreless first period, Harvard struck first at 14:12 of the second when Salvatore Guzzo found the back of the net off assists from Lucas St. Louis and Ben MacDonald. A quick passing play led to Guzzo's second goal this season against Union and this third of the season.

The lead was short-lived, as Union scored twice in the final two minutes of the period to take a 2-1 lead into the third.

The third period saw both teams generate scoring chances, but neither team could find another goal. Harvard pulled its goalie late in the game for an extra attacker but couldn't find the equalizer despite a strong push.
