Men's Hockey to Face Northeastern in Beanpot Third-Place Game

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Men's hockey will face Northeastern in the Dunkin Men's Beanpot third-place game at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. 
 
PUCK DROP
  • Puck drop is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and will be streamed on NESN Nation and ESPN+.
  • Northeastern is 9-13-3 this season and has lost their last three games. 
  • Having the weekend off, the Huskies last played a regular season game on Jan. 31 against No. 6 Maine and fell by a score of 3-1. 
  • Northeastern is 2-0 against ECAC opponents this season after wins over Brown and Quinnipiac. 
LAST TIME OUT 
  • Harvard fell to Dartmouth 3-2 on Friday in Hanover. 
  • Falling behind 3-0 in the second period, third period goals from Michael Callow and Mick Thompson helped get the Crimson back in the game. 
  • With the net empty in the final minute, Harvard was unable to complete the comeback.  
LOOKING BACK
  • With their last meeting in the first round of the Beanpot last season, Northeastern scored in overtime to advance to the championship game. 
  • Ben MacDonald scored the first Crimson goal while Matthew Morden netted his first career goal in the third period. 
CRIMSON AND HUSKIES BY THE NUMBERS 
  • Over the last ten seasons, Harvard is 2-4-1 against the Huskies. 
  • Northeastern leads the all-time season series 39-67-1. 
  • Harvard last beat Northeastern on New Years day in 2023 by a score of 8-4 with Phil Tresca, Casey Severo, and Joe Miller. 
  • Casey Severo netted a career high four points in the game after one goal and three assists. 
THE 300 CLUB
  • Ted Donato notched his 300th win against Yale on Jan. 13, 2024, making him one of only three coaches in Harvard hockey history to reach this milestone.
  • Donato sits just 13 wins away from becoming Harvard men's hockey's all-time winningest coach.
  • Currently at 312 career wins, Donato is just four short of tying Ralph 'Cooney' Weiland in second place all time. 
  • Donato is seventh in all-time wins among ECAC coaches and one of 15 active Division I coaches in the top 50 with over 300 wins.
  • Donato is currently 15th all-time in winning percentage among active coaches with at least 100 games coached in Division I. 
 CHEVY'S CREASE
  • Charette made his debut against Notre Dame at the Friendship Four and would go on to make the next six starts for the Crimson. Charette would record his first career win the following day against Merrimack after making 31 saves in a 4-2 win to close the Friendship Four. 
  • Adding his first career shutout against St. Lawrence on Dec. 7, the rookie netminder made 31 saves in a shootout win over the Saints. Charette is currently twentieth in the country in save percentage while he also leads the ECAC in save percentage. 
  • One of only 13 first-year netminders in the country with at least 10 games played, Charette ranks third in save percentage in the nation among rookies with a .926 SV% 
  • Charette became one of three rookie netminders in the last 22 seasons to have 30+ saves in a shutout in program history. 
  • Charette recorded another 34 saves in the win against Colgate on Jan. 25. It was the fourth time this season, Charette has added 30+ saves.
  • The Crimson has a 2-1-1 record in games when Charette makes 30+ saves. 
CLUTCH CASEY
  • Last season seven of Severo's eight goals had either narrowed the deficit to one, tied the game, or given the Crimson the lead. 
  • This season six of his eight goals have given the Crimson the lead while the remaining two have given the Crimson a two-goal lead. 
  • Over the last two seasons, 13 of his 16 goals have either cut the deficit to one, tied the game, or given the Crimson the lead. 
  • Since the start of the 2024 calendar year, Severo sits tied for eighth in the ECAC with seven goals in 17 games. 
JUMBO JOE MILLER
  • Since the start of the 2024 calendar year, Joe Miller leads the ECAC in assists with 13 assists in 17 games. 
  • Miller is one of six players in the conference to average over a point a game since Jan. 1 2024.  
ROOKIE LEADERS
  • Mick Thompson and Ben Charette have been two of the best rookies in the conference this season. 
  • As of Jan. 28, Thompson leads the ECAC in rookie scoring with 11 points in 14 conference games. 
  • Ben Charette Leads the ECAC with a .939 SV% in six conference games. 
MIKE RICHTER WATCH LIST
  • Rookie netminder Ben Charette was named to the initial watch list for the 2025 Mike Richter Award as the nation's top goaltender, the Hockey Commissioners Association announced.
  • Charette was one of five rookies named to the watch list. 
SCATTERED SCORING 
  • Six different players scored against Brown and Yale to help deliver the Crimson six much-needed ECAC conference points. 
  • In 2023-24, Jan. 28 only 12 different players had scored through 19 games. 
  • This season, 16 different skaters have scored through 19 games.  
STELLAR GOALTENDING
  • The combined goaltending tandem of Aku Koskenvuo and Ben Charette is currently posting the second-best save percentage with a .908%
  • Harvard only trails Brown as the conference leader. 
 
LAGS ON THE LINE 
  • Mason Langenbrunner set a new career high in points through 19 games this season. 
  • Only scoring one goal in his first two seasons, the junior has found the back of the net three times in 2024-25. 
  • Picking up one goal and five assists in 66 career games prior to this season, Langenbrunner has three goals and three assists in 19 games this season. 
MOORE BLOCKS
  • Since 2002-03, Ian Moore ranks fifth among Harvard skaters  with 141 blocked shots in 109 games. 
  • Through 19 games this season, Moore has already set a new career high with 39 blocks.
